Mice on the Move

Mice are a common problem for our clients in the colder months as they seek shelter from dropping temperatures and look for food to keep them going. You’ll often hear them scrabbling around at night or find signs that they’ve been in your property rather than seeing them as they are very nervous.

This video shows a mouse tucking into non toxic bait which our pest controllers use to identify what pests they are dealing with before they use poisons.

If you think you have mice in your property we advise that you call us immediately. Whilst they look harmless, mice can start fires and cause floods as they chew through electrical cables and pipework. They also spread diseases so if you think they might be in your property call our pest controllers today on 01908 299518 for a no obligation free survey.

Here are our top tips for keeping mice out of your property this winter:

1. Be on the look out for signs of mice- look for small black droppings the size of a grain of rice, small bite marks or shredding of paper and cardboard boxes. You might also see greasy marks on walls and skirting boards when mice find a pathway they like to use regularly.
2. If you’ve got any leftover cardboard, paper or packaging from Christmas it’s a good idea to get rid of it as it’s the perfect material for mice to make nests from.
3. If you have any holes in your property, however small, its important to fill them as mice can fit through spaces 5mm wide, that’s the size of a pen tip. Our pest controllers can help with advice if you’re not sure where to start.
4. If you think you have mice call us quickly as mice reproduce very quickly and can have up to 80 babies a year each, so that could mean up to 6,400 mice a year!
